Story of an Artist
Story of an Artist
My work is driven by curiosity, emotion, and connection. Through exploration of both natural and urban environments, I translate moments of observation into colour, form, and rhythm. I am drawn to personality in all its forms, whether found in birds, flowers, landscapes, or people, and I aim to capture not just how something looks, but how it feels.
Working primarily in acrylics and oils, I combine symmetry, pattern, and layered colour to express my emotional response to the subject. Painting, for me, is an act of sharing, an invitation for the viewer to step into my experience and discover their own connection within the work.
ARTIST BIO
Kimberley Cardow is a Melbourne-based contemporary artist whose practice is inspired by exploration, travel, and a deep appreciation for nature and everyday moments.
Raised in Sydney, Kimberley developed a love for adventure early on, finding inspiration in both grand landscapes and small, unexpected details. After relocating to Melbourne in 2008, her work continued to evolve through observing Australia’s diverse environments and experiences gained from international travel.
Her paintings are known for their use of colour, pattern, and texture, blending form and emotion to create works that feel both expressive and intimate. While flowers have played a significant role in her earlier work, where she explored close-up perspectives and hidden details, Kimberley now enjoys working across a wider range of subjects, including birds, people, and place.
At the heart of her practice is a belief that painting is a powerful way of communicating feeling, allowing others to see the world as she experiences it.
